Overview

ShinePrint Server for IPP is part of the ShinePrint Suite . It provides IPP functionality compliant with the IPP specification.

The ShinePrint Server is available for the following platforms:

Windows NT 4.0, NT 5.0, Win95, Win98
Unix Platforms: FreeBSD, Linux

ShinePrint Server is compliant with IPP 1.0 specification and supports all standard IPP operation published in the IPP specification plus Set 1 operations that enable IPP printer and job management. The current version of IPP supports most IPP 1.1 features and the future version will be 100% IPP 1.1 compliant.

ShinePrint Server works with the Web server shipped on your system (IIS on Windows NT, Apache on linux/unix), so it will take advantage of the latest security features in these Web servers. On Windows NT, support for chunking and security is therefore automatic.

ShinePrint Server features the following capabilities

Interoperates with any IPP-compliant clients
Emulation of printing to different print formats
Print redirection and filters for the following print format:

PostScript
TIFF
GIF
JPEG

Easy intergration with the native system services.

On Windows platforms, spooler is by default configured to print to Lan Manager print queues.
On unix, spooler interfaces with LPR/LPD.

Alternative e-mail back-end to printing
Small footprint, optimized for size and speed.
Highly extensible and customizable
